Why Transparent Stickers?
Apply a white paper sticker to a product and you always see a rectangle or shape sitting on top of the surface. Transparent stickers get rid of that. Only your printed design shows; the rest of the sticker is invisible. Your branding reads as part of the product rather than something stuck onto it.
This is the usual pick for glass bottles, clear packaging, cosmetics and window decals — anywhere the surface behind the sticker should stay visible.
White Ink Options — The Most Important Design Decision
Printing on clear film isn’t like printing on white paper. Without a white layer, CMYK ink on transparent material comes out translucent and muted — the surface colour shows through and changes how your design looks. White ink lets you decide which parts of the design stay opaque and which stay clear:
- CMYK Only — colours printed straight onto clear film with no white backing. The design stays semi-transparent and the surface beneath shows through every printed area. Good for subtle tinted effects, decorative patterns, and any design where you want transparency.
- CMYK + Full White Backing — a solid white layer prints behind your whole design. Colours come out bold and opaque, like printing on white paper, while the surrounding sticker stays fully transparent. This is the standard choice for most transparent labels — strong colours, with your product still showing through the unprinted areas.
- CMYK + Spot White Backing — white ink prints behind selected areas only. Keep some elements opaque (logo, text) and let others stay translucent or fully clear. This is the most flexible option, since you choose exactly which parts are solid and which let the surface show.
- White Ink Only — a white design on clear film, no CMYK. On glass or other transparent surfaces it gives a frosted, etched-glass look. Minimal and understated — a common pick for cosmetics, perfume bottles and high-end packaging.
If you’re unsure: CMYK + Full White Backing is the safest pick for most jobs. You get strong colours and a clean transparent border.

Finishing Options
- No Lamination — the natural clear film surface, already waterproof. This is the default for most transparent labels.
- Gloss Lamination — a glossy overlaminate that adds scratch resistance and extra UV protection. It deepens colour on the printed areas while the clear areas stay see-through.
- Matt Lamination — a matte overlaminate that gives the printed areas a frosted, non-reflective finish, with a soft tactile feel and an understated look.

Design Tips
- Design with the intended surface colour in mind — your design will look different on a clear glass bottle than on a dark metal container
- On dark or coloured surfaces, always put full white backing behind your CMYK; without it the colours go dull and muddy
- Leave a margin of clear space around your design for the “floating label” effect
- For the cleanest no-label look, match the sticker shape closely to your design outline — excess clear film is invisible, but it can catch fingerprints or dust at the edges
- If you’re unsure about the white ink option, test a small quantity first — on transparent material, the gap between CMYK-only and white-backed is dramatic
