How Holographic Stickers Work
Holographic film has a micro-embossed surface that diffracts light into a shifting rainbow pattern. Your CMYK artwork is printed on top of this iridescent base, so the holographic effect shows through the lighter and unprinted areas of your design while darker printed areas retain their colour with a subtle shimmer underneath.
This creates a dynamic, almost 3D-like appearance that shifts and changes as the sticker is viewed from different angles — the kind of finish that makes people stop and look twice.
Design tips for holographic stickers:
- Bold, simple graphics work best — the holographic base is already visually busy, so clean designs with strong outlines keep things legible
- Black ink on holographic is a striking classic combination — the rainbow effect shows through everywhere except the black printed areas
- Leave unprinted areas intentionally — any area without ink becomes pure holographic rainbow, so you can use negative space as a design element
- Dark backgrounds will mute the holographic effect, while light or transparent areas let the shimmer shine through
- White areas in your artwork will appear as the holographic rainbow, not white — there is no white ink layer with this material
Kiss-Cut vs Die-Cut — Both Available
Choose the format that suits your application:
Kiss-Cut — stickers are cut through the top layer only, with the holographic backing sheet left intact. Stickers are delivered on A3 sheets, making them easy to peel and apply one at a time. Best for sticker sheets, product labels, and organised dispensing.
Die-Cut — both the sticker and backing are cut to your exact custom shape. Each sticker is a standalone piece. Best for giveaways, merchandise packs, event distribution, and retail resale.

- Remember: No white ink — white and unprinted areas will show as holographic rainbow. Design with the rainbow base in mind.
